What is Type 2 Diabetes?

Diabetes is a disorder in the way the body uses and regulates sugar, that is, glucose, which it uses as energy. Diabetes is a chronic disease. This disease is the condition of having too much sugar in the blood. High sugar levels in the blood can also cause disturbances in the circulatory system, nervous system, and immune systems. In diabetes, there may be disturbances in the relationship between insulin and the pancreas. The pancreas cannot produce insulin, the hormone that regulates the movements of sugar cells. Diabetes Treatment

Treatment methods for diabetes differ according to the type of the disease. In type 1 diabetes, medical nutrition therapy can be applied together with insulin therapy. The patient's daily diet program is planned by the dietitian according to the insulin dose and plan recommended by the doctor. With carbohydrate counting, where the insulin dose can be adjusted by planning the number of carbohydrates contained in the foods, the diet and social life of individuals with Type 1 diabetes become quite easy. In individuals with type 2 diabetes, in addition to providing the treatment diet, oral antidiabetic drugs are generally used to increase the sensitivity of the cells to insulin hormone or to directly increase the secretion of insulin hormone.

In cases where the points to be considered in diabetes and the recommended treatment principles are not followed, high levels of blood sugar cause many health problems, especially nerve damage, damage to the kidneys, and damage to the eye retina.
